How does the Cleric build work?
Cleric's most useful build is the one that answers the group's incoming damage. Its Stigma choices change when a Chanter provides an overlapping protection effect. A damage sequence is secondary to healing, cleansing and the next mechanic that requires a saved cooldown.

Who this build suits
Players who enjoy monitoring party health, preparing for damage events and choosing the right support action under pressure.
What to watch for
Overlapping support effects can waste a slot. Damage casting can also delay the recovery action that would have prevented a death.
What should you check before using this loadout?
These checks apply the Cleric reference-client guide to the choices below. Verify current regional tooltips before relying on an unlock or changing a defensive assignment.
Confirm who covers overlapping protection
Ask whether the Chanter is supplying the overlapping effect before selecting the fourth starting Stigma. The reviewed with-Chanter setup substitutes Absolution for Light of Protection only under that coordination. Compare actual ranks and the regional stacking text. A party containing the class does not automatically prove the expected skill is equipped, available or strong enough for the intended assignment.
Reserve a response to the next damage event
Identify which party member or mechanic needs your next heal, cleanse or protective action. Place Divine Aura where the fight will happen, and prepare Benevolence and Yustiel's Power deliberately. Keep control breaks and emergency recovery out of an unconditional damage sequence. Having the right skill equipped is not enough if it was consumed before the pressure arrived.
Test sustain before adding offense
Check that MP and survival remain reliable through the longest pressure phase. Only then use the safe downtime sequence of Chain of Torment, Earth's Punishment and Condemnation. Stop that sequence when recovery is needed. An offensive gear improvement or extra cast is a poor trade when it delays the support action that would have kept the group active.
Starting Stigma loadout
4 equippedThis is a group-PvE starting set from the cited reference-client guide. Keep the core interaction intact and change a flex slot only when the encounter gives you a reason.
Earth's Punishment
Damage contribution during safe healing downtime.
Benevolence
Support sustained recovery needs.
Yustiel's Power
Prepare for a heavy incoming damage event.
Light of Protection
Party protection when a Chanter is not supplying the overlapping effect.
Situational alternatives
- Absolution. Replace Light of Protection in the coordinated with-Chanter starting plan.
- Summon Resurrection. A situational recovery choice that needs its own deliberate key.
Stigma names are reference labels. Confirm the matching icon and current tooltip in your client before spending upgrade materials.
Core skills and their jobs
Understand why each skill is present before copying an endgame sequence. These are priority interactions, not a claim that the rest of your skill book is unused.
Divine Aura
Place useful support where the encounter will happen.
Chain of Torment
Start damage contribution only when recovery is covered.
Condemnation
Complete the safe downtime damage sequence.
Shock Release
Keep the control-break response available outside the damage sequence.
Cleric PvE rotation
A priority sequence is more reliable than a fixed macro when a boss moves, your resources drop or a conditional attack is unavailable.
- 1
Check whether a Chanter covers the overlapping protection. Use Light of Protection without one, or the coordinated Absolution alternative with one.
- 2
Place Divine Aura and prepare Benevolence and Yustiel's Power around the damage pattern. Heal and cleanse when the party needs it.
- 3
During safe downtime, use Chain of Torment, Earth's Punishment and Condemnation. Stop the damage sequence immediately for recovery or mechanics.
Common mistake
Equipping an overlapping protection effect without checking the Chanter setup, or finishing a damage cast while the party needs healing.
Why is this Cleric setup not working?
Identify the condition that failed in the encounter before changing the entire bar. The observations below are editorial troubleshooting steps, not measured performance claims.
An ally dies while damage is being cast
Review whether the incoming damage was predictable, whether a cleanse or heal was available, and whether your position kept the ally reachable. If an offensive cast delayed the response, correct the priority before buying a stronger healing roll. Also check the party assignment: a protection effect another player was expected to cover may never have been present.
The healer runs out of resources
Separate MP pressure from excessive incoming damage, unnecessary recovery casts and a lost support specialty after a gear change. Compare total skill ranks and resource behavior across a full encounter. Preserve enough personal defense to remain available. A theoretical increase to healing or damage does not help when the required action is unavailable during the final pressure phase.
Gear and stat priorities
Choose equipment for the loop you can actually play. The order below is a decision framework; it does not claim measured best-in-slot gear, universal caps or a perfect roll on every slot.
| What to compare | Why it matters for Cleric |
|---|---|
| Healing and relevant support ranks | Inspect the recovery and protection skills your party depends on. |
| Resource sustain | Stay able to heal through the encounter's longest pressure phase. |
| Survival / damage tolerance | A dead healer cannot use a stronger healing roll. |
| Offensive value | Add damage-oriented choices once healing and survival are reliable. |
Before rerolling equipment
Count total skill levels after the replacement, check whether the desired line can appear on that item, and keep enough resources for the next upgrade. A higher displayed combat power is not proof that an item improves this build.
Accuracy and critical needs depend on enemy defenses, buffs and the current regional patch. Use actual encounter results to identify misses or resource problems before paying for a theoretical cap.
Read the gear decision guideLeveling into the build
- Learn the party's damage pattern and separate healing, cleansing and emergency protection from a damage macro.
- Improve useful support ranks and resources before spreading investment across every offensive button.
- Coordinate with Chanter players before choosing overlapping effects. Recheck the stronger effect and stacking rule in your regional tooltip.
A total skill level can include bonuses from equipment and progression systems. Base investment and total level are different numbers; compare both with the specialty requirements displayed in your game.

Solo and questing
You can spend more time on damage while keeping a recovery answer. A solo damage plan should be changed back before joining a party that expects primary healing.
PvP considerations
Prioritize a position that keeps allies reachable without exposing you to unnecessary control. Keep cleansing, recovery and control breaks available for pressure rather than cycling them on cooldown.
PvP notes explain adaptation priorities. They are not a separately tested competitive loadout or a current-patch ranking.
Cleric build questions
What changes when a Chanter is present?
The reviewed starting plan replaces Light of Protection with Absolution when the Chanter covers the overlapping effect. Coordinate actual ranks and regional tooltips.
Can Cleric contribute damage?
Yes, during safe downtime. The damage sequence must not delay necessary healing, cleansing or mechanic responses.
Is Absolution always the right choice when a Chanter joins?
No. The referenced swap assumes the Chanter actually supplies the overlapping protection effect. Confirm equipped skills, ranks, availability and the regional stacking rule together. Keep the party protection it still needs if that assumption fails; class presence alone is not evidence that the support responsibility has been covered.
Is this the best Cleric build for every server?
No. This is a documented starting point. Regional balance, skill names, encounter demands and available ranks can change the correct choices. Use the cited references and current in-game tooltips together.
