How to Choose Your AION 2 Class

Choose an AION 2 class by the responsibility you enjoy first, then by range and combat rhythm. Templar is the tank-focused starting point; Cleric and Chanter support the party; the remaining base classes offer different damage playstyles. A current-patch damage ranking cannot tell you whether you enjoy that job.

Choose your party responsibility

A tank-focused Templar plan asks you to manage pulls, facing and planned protection. Choose it if you enjoy deciding where the fight happens and responding to predictable damage. A defensive setup is not just a damage build with a shield icon.

Cleric puts healing and cleansing ahead of its damage sequence. Chanter combines melee attacks with mantra coverage, recovery and protection. Both need to watch what the party will need next; overlapping effects should be coordinated rather than assumed to stack.

Damage classes still have mechanical responsibilities. Gladiator wants a prepared melee window, Assassin adds rear positioning and Insignia setup, Ranger uses target preparation at range, Sorcerer needs safe casting time, and Spiritmaster manages summon interactions and debuffs.

Pick a rhythm you can maintain

A short training rotation is useful, but a dungeon includes movement, untargetable phases and resource pressure. Ask whether you enjoy reacting to an activation, preparing a burst window, maintaining a support effect or choosing a summon sequence.

Melee classes must reach safe attack positions and re-enter after mechanics. Ranged classes have room to observe but still need support range and line of sight. A longer attack range does not automatically make a class easier to play well.

The difficulty labels on this site are editorial descriptions of attention and setup, not a controlled measurement or a ranking of players. Read the class overview and common mistake before making the choice.

Match your group before investing

Ask your regular party which role is missing and which overlapping support effects are already covered. A class that fits the group can be more useful than an isolated high-damage recommendation.

Try the basic resource loop before spending heavily on gear. If it only becomes comfortable at a late specialty threshold, plan an early rotation that works with your current points. Copying the final setup does not grant the ranks used in the demonstration.

Check regional availability

This site covers eight base classes and a separate Brawler regional reference. The Korean Chapter 1 page introduces Brawler, but that does not verify availability in every other service. Confirm the roster on your intended server.

Skill translations and balance can differ across clients. The class guides cite their reference and mark the limits of the recommendation. Use your current regional tooltip for exact names, coefficients and unlock requirements.

A practical first-session checklist

Choose a role, read its starting set, equip the skills you actually have and practice a resource-stable loop. Keep a movement, control-break or recovery response available rather than committing every button to a damage macro.

After a real encounter, identify the problem: missing resource recovery, unsafe positioning, a failed mechanic or inadequate gear. Change the part that solves that problem and repeat. This is more useful than changing every skill after a single poor attempt.

How do these choices change a real loadout?

Your party needs protection rather than another damage dealer

Compare the tank and support responsibilities before deciding from an attack animation. Templar focuses on the pull, facing and planned defense; Cleric prioritizes recovery and cleansing; Chanter coordinates coverage while contributing in melee. Ask which job the group actually lacks, then read that class's starting loadout and tradeoffs.

If you regularly play alone as well, check the class page's solo adaptations. Keep track of the skills removed for questing so the next group does not receive a bar built around a different assignment. A preference for solo damage does not establish that the party's healing or tanking duties have disappeared.

You like a developed rotation but have an early character

Choose the class only if its current basic loop is a playstyle you enjoy. An advanced demonstration may depend on gear ranks, selected specialties and a stable target. Read the progression section and practice the early sequence before assuming the final burst rhythm is available immediately.

For example, Gladiator's repeated-Slam reference has conditions beyond simply equipping an attack. Assassin adds positional and Insignia setup, while Sorcerer needs a safe cast window. Those are different attention requirements, not evidence of a universal difficulty score or a promise that one class is fastest to progress.

What should you check before investing?

Which AION 2 class should a beginner choose?

Choose the responsibility and combat rhythm you enjoy: tanking, healing, coordinated support, melee damage or ranged damage. Then read the starting loadout and recovery requirements for that class. This guide does not establish a measured easiest class; a clear-looking attack sequence can still require positioning, resources and specialty unlocks.

Are Cleric and Chanter interchangeable supports?

No. The reference plans give Cleric a healing-and-cleansing priority and Chanter a coordinated support-and-melee role. Their overlapping protection should be checked rather than assumed to stack. Agree on what each player supplies; the presence of both classes does not automatically cover every recovery or defensive assignment.

Does the Brawler listing confirm Global availability?

No. The Brawler page is a regional reference backed by the Korean Chapter 1 announcement. Availability in every other service and complete specialty options are not verified here. Confirm the class roster and current regional tooltips on the server where you intend to play.
